Una pionera del hip hop en México, Ximbo nos presenta su nuevo sencillo “Queendom”, una feroz declaración que inaugura su nueva etapa musical. El sencillo el cuál llegó con su video oficial, es parte de su próximo EP del mismo nombre el cuál llegará a finales de este año. Platicamos con la artista acerca de esta nueva declaración artística así como de su visión del hip hop mexicano actualmente.
Iniciamos hablando de su nuevo tema, y queda clara la congruencia entre el track y su intención: “Queendom es un mensaje de una Ximbo muy empoderada”. La artista habla del factor autobiográfico presente tanto en este como en el resto de sus canciones, en esta resaltando específicamente su retorno a la feroz interpretación que caracterizó sus primeros temas: “Cuando yo era muy joven y empecé a hacer rap tuve una etapa donde mi rap era super duro y era quizá un poco más masculino”, hablando del proceso por el cuál ha pasado para lanzamientos previos que se diferencian de esta ejecución “¿De repente porque estoy tan peleada con hacer cosas más suaves?”. A través de la deconstrucción ha encontrado una manera de balancear las diferentes partes de su personalidad, encontrando maneras de mostrar los diferentes lados de su persona a través del arte: “Mi lucha personal en la vida ha sido suavizarlo”. Nos platica acerca del gusto y buen recibimiento que han tenido los fans con el tema, hablando de que era notorio que su comunidad extrañaba este estilo de delivery que compartió en “Queendom”.
Ximbo es sin duda una artista que le ha tocado vivir varias épocas del hip hop mexicano, es por eso que nos interesa preguntarle particularmente por su percepción del estatus de esta cultura, a lo que nos respondió: “Actualmente casi no hay hip hop” dice la artista respetuosamente, “Creo que se reduce a rap”, y procedió a compartir su pensamiento de que poco hoy en día se investiga acerca de los predecesores y elementos del Hip Hop. Mencionando a KRS-ONE y la Zulu Nation como algunas de las referencias que le ayudaron a comprender y a enamorarse de esta cultura queda claro que forma parte intrínseca de su vida: “Nosotros hacíamos Hip Hop, hacemos Hip Hop y somos hip hop”.
“Muchos de los actores principales que ya coquetean con el mainstream o que son super mainstream no tienen ningún interés por la cultura hip hop” mencionando la falta de un deseo de búsqueda e investigación de las nuevas generaciones. “Me da un poco de pena, y tengo que decirlo la verdad es que sí, quizá yo soy demasiado romántica o muy old school pero a mi el hip hop como cultura me parece absolutamente fascinante y si extraño que no haya esfuerzo por darle continuidad”.
Los pensamientos y opiniones de Ximbo claramente vienen de la pasión que siente por la cultura Hip hop y siendo una exponente que ha vivido varias facetas de su desarrollo, observar un cambio generacional es parte de la experiencia que continúa viviendo a través de su vida y proyecto. A su vez, alaba su capacidad técnica y reconoce que muchos de los exponentes de la nueva generación tienen un instinto que les permite iniciar su proceso creativo desde un punto técnico superior comparado con el que previas generaciones comenzaron.
