Oficialmente comenzamos el año con los primeros lanzamientos musicales, dos álbumes muy distintos que tienen mucho en común: The Weeknd y Gunna. Más que iniciar el año con un golpe o con una sorpresa, pareciera que ambos artistas decidieron ser el calentamiento y buscar pasar desapercibidos con sus nuevos proyectos. Demos un poco de contexto…
The Weeknd, quién durante la pandemia tuvo el éxito más grande de su carrera y el mundo con “Blinding Lights”, tocó en el Superbowl pasado y se está preparando para su gira mundial…. Realmente no tiene mucho más por que esforzarse en el momento. Para todas las entrevistas y build-up que hizo para el proyecto hablando de como esta era la música que más le emocionaba hacer en su vida (lo cuál es rutina pero se escuchaba sincero), este proyecto suena a una versión repetitiva de The Weeknd que no aporta nada nuevo a su legado. Puedes escuchar el álbum completo y disfrutarlo porque está muy bien hecho, pero lo más probable es que no te lleves un coro, una línea y sobre todo lo más importante: una canción. Si, el concepto es muy seductor, si los visuales están increíbles pero si no está respaldado con canciones que puedan cobrar vida propia, poco le queda a cualquier proyecto.
Desde que “Take My Breath” no pudo ser “Blinding Lights 2” creo que abortaron un poco la misión y por eso decidieron lanzar el álbum de esta manera: en la primer semana del año para pasar desapercibidos y esperar que el tour en un par de meses haga su trabajo de relaciones públicas.
Y en cuanto a Gunna, un artista que si bien siempre nos da “lo mismo” y se agradece, hasta esta versión de “lo mismo” no es tan emocionante como la que escuchamos en “WUNNA”. El concepto de “pushing P” esta muy cool honestamente, tiene el swag y fronteo que busca uno en este tipo de música pero fuera de eso, creo que podemos encontrar una mejor versión de esto en su proyecto anterior.
En México el que inició el año con el pie derecho fue Lefty Sm. En el 2021 se consolidó como un artista de lanzamientos constantes y propuesta bien dirigida, el hecho de que lance un tema la primer semana del año, con video oficial y más cosas en puerta, nos da a entender que no planea bajarle este año.
Fuera de eso fue muy chingón ver el junte de Tiago PZK, Lit Killah, Maria Becerra y Nicki Nicole en “Entre Nosotros (Remix)”, si Argentina permanece así de unida, seguirán haciendo grandes cosas y llevando aún más lejos su escena nacional la cuál pinta para tener un asombroso 2022.
Así que al parecer la gran mayoría siguen dormidos, pero esperemos durante enero terminen de despertar y podamos comenzar propiamente el año musical.
