Leena Bae es una artista que ha estado forjando su camino en la escena de música independiente de Guatemala con una propuesta llena de conceptualización y experimentación, no solamente en la parte creativa sino en las maneras de llevar su proyecto al siguiente nivel.
Hablamos de su nuevo sencillo “Bai” el cuál yo le describo como un apocaliptico-último día del mundo- dance bop y ella misma me da la razón a mi descripción. El sencillo el cuál se aleja del mundo R&B en el cuál proyectos y sencillos anteriores habían vivido, viene de su experiencia presentando su show en vivo “Quiero tener una canción con la que yo pueda headbangear y volverme loca pero no quería hacer punk” y fue así como nació esta canción.
Leena reside actualmente en Guatemala, en dónde ella y personas de una nueva generación musical están buscando crear una industria que pueda sostener los proyectos artísticos del país “No hay venues, no hay medios, no hay nada, a ti te toca crear todo”, es así como se ha terminado involucrando en otras áreas de la industria cómo una agencia de producción de conciertos y cómo han decidido tomar en sus manos crear los espacios que desean ver “Hemos elegido hacerlo porque yo si soy muy creyente de que se puede empezar de cero y crear algo grande pero no todo el mundo está dispuesto a hacerlo”
Parte de haber ido formando su camino la llevó a ser DJ de reggaetón un tiempo, aunque fuera algo que no fuera de su total interés pero fue la manera inicial de entrar en el circuito, eventualmente sus aspiraciones artísticas se toparon con el rol que fungía, “En un algún momento empecé a sentir que me contrataban ya ni porque era buena DJ, era más porque soy mujer y porque ponía reggaeton y porque daba mucho performance, esa era mi thing yo bailaba mucho entonces dije esto no me esta gustando, esto no me siento valorada artísticamente, me siento como una proveedora de servicio nada más”.
Este año la artista se estará presentando no solamente en el festival La Tremenda el cuál compartirá escenario con un cartel de solamente mujeres incluyendo a Vanessa Zamora sino que también visitará por primera vez Ecuador para el festival Contracorriente este 20 de Agosto.
